Junior Project Manager – Engineering Projects
Location: Loughborough
Reports To: Business Integration Director
We are seeking a Junior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of engineering and technology projects across a range of sectors including transportation, infrastructure, digital transformation, systems integration, and engineering services.
The Junior Project Manager will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle from initiation through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering projects through the full project lifecycle from initiation to close-out.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets and resource plans.
- Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget and to quality standards.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams.
- Manage project scope, engineering change and configuration control.
- Coordinate technical interfaces between clients, suppliers, subcontractors and stakeholders.
- Support design reviews, testing, commissioning and project handover.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where required.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts and cost control.
- Review supplier quotations, contracts and variations.
- Support procurement and supplier management activities.
- Prepare financial reports and project performance updates.
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
- Lead project meetings, governance reviews and progress reporting.
- Identify, assess and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
- Promote collaboration, leadership and effective team performance.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering engineering, infrastructure, rail, utilities or technology projects.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and project controls.
- Experience managing budgets, programmes, risks and stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience of contract and supplier management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint and project management software.
Desirable Experience
- Rail, transportation, construction, defence, facilities management or utilities sector experience.
- Knowledge of systems integration, digital transformation or engineering delivery.
- Experience working under NEC, JCT or similar contract frameworks.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Construction, Technology, Business or Project Management.
- PRINCE2 Practitioner and/or APM Project Management Qualification (APM PMQ) (or equivalent such as PMP)
