Junior Sales Engineer

Hernshead Recruitment Ltd

About this job:

We are partnering with one of the UK’s most exciting and rapidly expanding forces in the Additive Manufacturing space. They are transforming how the automotive, aerospace, engineering, and education sectors design and build the future by providing cutting-edge digital manufacturing solutions to industry leaders.

We are looking for a Junior Applications Engineer (open to raw graduates, apprentices, or passionate juniors) to join their expert team. You don't need years of commercial experience for this role—what you do need is a genuine, undeniable passion for 3D printing. This is a rare, entry-level opportunity to turn your hobby, apprenticeship, or degree into a fully-fledged career. Under expert guidance, you will be trained to help clients solve engineering bottlenecks and guide businesses through adopting next-generation technology.

This company heavily invests in its team's success from day one. You will receive extensive, hands-on training and direct mentorship from a Senior Director to fast-track your career progression. Beyond a highly supportive learning environment, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package—including 24 days of annual leave, Bank Holidays, your birthday off, an EAP, a pension, and even free access to their high-end 3D printing tech for your personal projects.

Job requirements:

  • Learn to consult with clients to understand their needs and explain the technical and business benefits of 3D printing.

  • Assist the senior team with product demonstrations, producing 3D print samples, and running proof-of-concept projects.

  • Develop your knowledge in Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) to eventually support customers independently.

  • Shadow senior staff during discussions with decision-makers and engineering teams.

  • Help prepare technical documents, quotes, and presentations.

  • Support the marketing team by providing technical input for case studies, application content, and campaigns.

  • Attend trade shows, workshops, and client visits to build your industry knowledge and network.

  • Keep all records and systems up to date, ensuring accurate entries in the CRM.

  • Bring an enthusiastic, positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and an eagerness to soak up knowledge from industry experts.

Experience required:

  • Absolutely no prior commercial experience is required—just a massive, demonstrable passion for 3D printing (whether through university projects, an apprenticeship, or your own hobbyist setup at home).

  • An engineering mindset (a degree, college qualification, or background in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or a related discipline is highly beneficial).

  • A basic understanding of CAD software or 3D slicing software is a big plus.

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills—you should love figuring out how things work.

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with fluent English.

  • Highly organised and proactive, with the ability to work well within a supportive team.

  • Good computer literacy and a willingness to learn how to use CRM systems.

  • A full UK driving licence
