Junior Security Engineer (Infrastructure and Cloud) - Reading (Hybrid) - Permanent role - £40K
This is an entry point into cloud security for someone who has already got their hands dirty in IT and wants to take the next step.
Working for a well established SaaS vendor, you will become the first line of defence for day-to-day security hygiene: keeping the Windows estate patched, keeping a close daily eye on CrowdStrike, and working out whether the latest vulnerability in the news actually has an impact. Taking this work on frees the senior engineers to focus on bigger problems, and gives you a structured route into Azure and wider cloud security engineering.
The key to this role is drive, curiosity and attitude first. You will not know everything on day one, and that's fine: you'll work closely with the infrastructure team, who will teach you the estate, and they will give you the time and support to grow into the role.
You'll have been working on a service desk, in IT support or a SOC, or in an infrastructure team, and will have had some experience with security work. This is the opportunity to make the security work your job.
You'll have already been involved with tools like CrowdStrike, Defender, patching or vulnerability scanning, even if it was not your main responsibility. Ideally you'll have used AI tools to work faster and better- perhaps using them to help research vulnerabilities, write scripts and documentation, and investigate alerts.
The role is based near Reading and you'll need to be in the office at least a couple of days a week. It's a permanent role and will pay around £40K.
