Be Part of the Stage Where Everything Starts to Click

Teach Now is searching for a proactive KS1 Teaching Assistant to support young learners in a Barnet primary setting from September.

This role needs more than someone who simply helps around the classroom. We’re looking for a KS1 Teaching Assistant who notices when a child is struggling, knows when to offer support and understands when to step back and encourage independence.

What you’ll do:

  • Support learning throughout Key Stage 1.
  • Reinforce phonics, reading, writing and early maths.
  • Lead short one-to-one and small-group activities.
  • Help teachers monitor pupil understanding and progress.
  • Provide additional support for SEND pupils where needed.
  • Encourage good routines, confidence and positive behaviour.
  • Help prepare engaging classroom resources.

What you’ll bring:
Previous primary-school experience, ideally in KS1, plus a good understanding of how younger children learn. Phonics knowledge is highly desirable. A Teaching Assistant Level 2/3 qualification is welcomed, but relevant experience and strong classroom skills are equally important.

Why apply?
The role offers £90–£100 per day, a consistent full-time timetable and the chance to build strong KS1 experience while making a visible impact on children’s literacy, numeracy and confidence.

If you’re looking for a KS1 Teaching Assistant position where your contribution matters every day, we’d love to hear from you.
