Overview
We are looking for an experienced CNC Turner to join a busy precision machining environment manufacturing small batch, high-precision components for highly regulated industries. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience setting and operating large CNC lathes and working with Mazak and/or Fanuc control systems.
Hours: 39 hours per week
Rate: £18-22/hour DOE (Setting vs Operating vs Programming etc)
Core Shift:
- Monday to Thursday: 6:45am to 3:30pm
- Friday: 7:00am to 1:00pm
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set and operate CNC lathes, including reading, editing and optimising CNC programs.
- Follow manufacturing procedures, set-up sheets and work instructions to ensure consistent production.
- Interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances with a strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Manufacture precision components to customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality standards, engineering documentation and customer requirements.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping at all times.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
- Carry out additional production duties as required to support the business.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Right to live and work in the UK.
- Minimum of three years' experience machining large components within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
- At least five years' experience operating CNC lathes with Mazak and/or Fanuc control systems.
- Experience working from engineering drawings, job cards and manufacturing work instructions.
- Broad knowledge of machining processes across a variety of engineering materials.
- Experience handling, protecting and machining precision manufactured components.
- Ability to program, set and operate a range of CNC machine tools.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safe working practices.
Desirable
- Knowledge of modern cutting tools and machining techniques.
- Experience programming Mazak and/or Fanuc controls.
- Experience using hydraulic and manual steadies for machining large components.
