Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laser Setter Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, calibrating, and operating laser cutting machines to produce precise metal components. Your expertise in fabrication, tooling, and mechanical systems will ensure high-quality output and efficient production workflows. Hours Of Work:
- 5 Axis Laser Setter Operator = Monday to Thursday 0600-1430 and 0600-1100 Friday
- 2 Axis Laser Setter Operator = Monday to Thursday 1415-2245, and 1045-1545 Friday
Salaries:
- 5 Axis Laser Setter Operator = £33,362.16
- 2 Axis Laser Setter Operator = £36,632.96
Responsibilities as a Laser Setter Operator:
- Set up either 5 or 2 Axis laser cutting machines by selecting appropriate tooling, fixtures, and parameters based on job specifications
- Calibrate laser equipment to ensure accurate cuts and optimal performance
- Operate laser cutters safely and efficiently, monitoring the process for quality assurance throughout production runs
- Adjust machine settings as needed to accommodate different sheet metal types and thicknesses
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laser systems to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with fabrication and assembly teams to meet project deadlines and quality standards
- Maintain detailed records of machine settings, production logs, and inspection results.
Experience required as a Laser Setter Operator:
- Experience setting and operating 5 or 2 Axis Laser is essential
- Proven experience in fabrication, sheet metal work, or manufacturing environments involving laser cutting or similar machinery
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and tooling for setup and maintenance
- Familiarity with grinding, welding, and assembly processes preferred
- Basic math skills for measuring, calculating dimensions, and interpreting technical drawings or specifications
- Knowledge of sheet metal properties and fabrication techniques is highly advantageous
- Prior experience with mechanical systems, tooling adjustments, and quality control procedures is desirable.
