Leachate Compliance Technician

Salary: £27,190 - £33,988 (plus benefits)
Hours: Full-time
Location: Hybrid, travel required

As a Leachate Compliance Technician at FCC Environment, you will support the monitoring and management of leachate systems across our national landfill portfolio. You will carry out site investigations, collect and analyse environmental monitoring data, utilise specialist equipment, and play an important role in ensuring environmental compliance across multiple FCC Environment sites.

What will you be doing?

- Monitoring leachate levels and assessing the condition of leachate systems across landfill sites
- Carrying out on-site investigations using specialist environmental monitoring equipment
- Collecting and recording accurate environmental data
- Operating equipment such as dip meters and CCTV systems to investigate leachate infrastructure
- Monitoring leachate tank levels through telemetry systems and escalating issues when required
- Producing reports and entering investigation findings into company databases
- Supporting the identification of environmental issues and helping to develop appropriate remedial solutions
- Working closely with operational, environmental and site management teams
- Maintaining compliance with company procedures and environmental standards
- Working safely outdoors throughout the year in a variety of weather conditions

What are we looking for?

- Educated to A-Level standard or able to demonstrate relevant environmental experience
- Experience within environmental monitoring or the waste industry would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyse data and identify trends or potential issues
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to take responsibility and use initiative
- Flexible approach to travel and working at sites across FCC Environment's portfolio
- Commitment to health, safety and environmental compliance
- Desire to learn, develop and progress within the business
- Experience using environmental monitoring equipment is desirable
