What you'll be doing;
- Support the Site Manager with daily landfill operations, coordinating activities across the tipping face, plant/contractors and traffic movements.
- Control waste reception and acceptance: check documentation (incl. CoTC where required), confirm waste types, and ensure compliant disposal routes.
- Monitor site standards and contractor performance against agreed methods of work; carry out routine checks and escalate non-compliances.
- Deliver/coordinate site inductions and toolbox talks; verify training/competence and ensure correct controls are in place for tasks.
- Maintain compliance with the Environmental Permit, Waste Acceptance procedures, Discharge Consent and relevant management plans (e.g. leachate and landfill gas).
- Support Risk & Assurance performance: ensure accidents, incidents and near misses are recorded on AVA and actions are tracked to close-out.
- Act as (or work towards being) an Issuing Authority for Permits to Work, ensuring isolations, RAMS and sign-offs are completed correctly.
- Work with technical support teams (Surveying, Engineering, Aftercare, Gas) to plan works, coordinate access and ensure work packs/records are completed.
- Prepare and maintain site records, statutory logs and operational reports using business systems (incl. basic data handling in Excel).
- Support internal/external audits, regulator visits (EA/HSE) and stakeholder/site visits, ensuring documentation and site readiness.
What we're looking for;
- Degree (or near completion) in a relevant discipline (e.g. environmental, engineering, science) or equivalent experience.
- Project management skills (planning, scheduling, action tracking, reporting)..
- Strong written and verbal communication for site records, briefings and stakeholder interactions.
- GCSEs Grade 4/C+ (or equivalent) including Maths & English.
- Full UK driving licence
