We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Data Analyst to oversee a specialist team responsible for assessing the performance, reliability and effectiveness of complex Defence systems. Combining technical expertise with strong leadership skills, you will manage analysis activities, guide and develop team members, engage with key stakeholders, and deliver high-quality insights that support critical decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for data analysis, problem-solving and continuous improvement within a highly technical and operational environment.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage a small team providing expert analysis services.
  • Ensure contracted core deliveries meet agreed milestones.
  • Resource manage and support, where necessary, the analysis of functional data to determine system performance and reliability.
  • Provide briefings to our intelligent customer and represent / support them at technical meetings.
  • Ensure the effective dissemination of high-quality information to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensure the application of recognised best practice in specialist areas.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to early career team members and support them in developing specialist skills where applicable.

 The essential experience you’ll bring to the role will be:

  • Strong leadership, teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Minimum five years of system analysis experience.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Good understanding of system performance and statistical analysis.
  • Experience of working with data, in an established team environment, to understand how it can help an organisation make better decisions.
  • High standards of written, verbal and presentational communication skills.

Highly desirable attributes for the role are

  • A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent experience (ten years’ experience of the operation or maintenance of maritime weapon systems).
  • Data Analysis methods – modelling, classification, regression, clustering, simulation and prediction
  • Flexible and adaptable communicator who can tell a great factual story and adapt it to their audience.
  • A natural curiosity, methodical and prodigious at solving problems.

  • Due to the highly secure nature of the projects, you’ll be working on, you must be a UK National, and be willing to undergo and maintain appropriate UK Government Security Clearance
