The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Leakage Team Leader to lead a team of Leakage Technicians across the Basingstoke area. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong leakage detection experience who enjoys leading from the front, developing people, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.

As a key member of the operational team, you will be responsible for coordinating daily field activities, supporting and mentoring technicians, driving performance, and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical expertise with strong people management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Lead, motivate and support a team of Leakage Technicians, ensuring daily objectives and performance targets are achieved.
• Act as the first point of contact for your team, providing technical guidance and day-to-day operational support.
• Foster a positive, high-performing team culture focused on safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Operational Delivery

• Coordinate and oversee daily leakage detection activities, ensuring work is completed efficiently and in accordance with company procedures.
• Monitor workloads and allocate resources effectively to maximise productivity.

Technical Support & Quality

• Provide technical assistance and coaching to technicians carrying out leakage detection and investigation activities.
• Ensure accurate collection, recording and reporting of field data.
• Monitor the quality of work completed and implement corrective actions where required.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Champion a strong health and safety culture across the team.
• Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with company policies, industry standards and safe systems of work.
• Deliver toolbox talks, complete risk assessments and promote best practice at all times.

Planning & Performance

• Assist with workforce planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
• Monitor team performance against KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify operational challenges and work proactively to resolve them.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Maintain effective communication between field teams, operational management and key stakeholders.
• Provide regular progress updates and escalate issues where necessary.
• Represent the team professionally and promote excellent customer service standards.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical leakage knowledge with excellent leadership skills.

Essential Experience

• Previous experience within the water industry, ideally in leakage detection or network operations.
• Experience leading or mentoring field-based teams.
• Good understanding of leakage detection techniques, data collection and reporting.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Good IT skills, including experience using handheld devices and reporting systems.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
