Learning Partner - Resource Base

Protocol Education

Some children need more than classroom support. They need someone in their corner. Someone patient, encouraging, and calm, even on the tricky days.

We’re working with a welcoming primary school in Shirehampton looking for a full-time Learning Partner to provide dedicated 1:1 support within their resource base.

This school supports a high number of pupils with complex SEND needs and is looking for someone experienced who understands the importance of consistency, trust, and building positive relationships. You’ll be supporting a pupil throughout the school day, helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and feel confident within the classroom environment.

The role would suit someone who’s proactive, adaptable, and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing 1:1 support within a resource base
  • Supporting a pupil with complex SEND needs throughout the day
  • Helping with emotional regulation, classroom engagement, communication, and learning activities
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive learning experiences

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous SEND experience within a school or similar setting
  • Feels confident supporting pupils with complex additional needs
  • Is calm, patient, and adaptable in challenging situations
  • Can build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Is reliable, proactive, and ready to start ASAP

Due to the school’s location, driving is preferred. However, the school is accessible via train and bus routes.

Essential requirements:

  • Enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • References covering the last 24 months
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Overseas police checks required for any overseas stays longer than 3 months within the past 5 years
  • Unfortunately, sponsorship is not available for this role
