Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–5:00pm | Friday 8:00am–12:30pm

AE Talent Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider for a Learning Support Practitioner to join the education team at HMP Highpoint.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting SEND learners and individuals with additional learning needs who wants to use their skills in a rewarding environment where they can make a genuine difference.

You’ll work closely with tutors and the wider education team, providing personalised support to learners both in the classroom and on a one-to-one basis, helping them overcome barriers, build confidence and progress towards their goals.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and classroom-based support to learners with SEND, ALN and disabilities
  • Building positive relationships with learners and understanding their individual needs
  • Helping learners develop confidence, independence and self-advocacy
  • Monitoring learner progress and wellbeing through regular reviews
  • Developing and maintaining individual support plans
  • Reviewing and updating support arrangements as learners' needs change
  • Working closely with tutors, trainers, prison staff and other professionals
  • Supporting reasonable adjustments for assessments where required
  • Maintaining accurate learner records and documentation
  • Supporting a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
  • Following safeguarding, security and contractual requirements

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about helping people overcome barriers to learning.

You should have:

  • Experience supporting learners or individuals with SEND, SEN, ALN or additional learning needs
  • Experience providing one-to-one or classroom-based support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • The ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records
  • Good IT skills
  • A patient, supportive and positive approach
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent

Desirable

  • Level 3 qualification in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities
  • Experience working in further education, adult education or skills provision
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities or neurodiversity
  • Previous experience working within a prison or secure environment
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Awareness of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF)
