Salary: NJC Scale 8, Points 17-22 (£26,399.73 - £29,048.56 actual, DOE)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Term Time Only + 2 days
Start Date: 1st September 2026

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join our Outdoor Beacon provision. This role focuses on supporting students with SEND, SEMH and EAL through engaging outdoor education programmes that build confidence, independence and a positive connection to learning.

You will work closely with teaching staff to plan and deliver a range of outdoor and adventurous activities, helping students thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students 1:1 and in small groups to enhance engagement and inclusion
  • Plan and deliver outdoor learning activities including expedition training, camping, bushcraft, climbing, archery and group challenges
  • Assist teachers with larger outdoor education sessions
  • Monitor, assess and record student progress and engagement
  • Act as a mentor, supporting individual development and wellbeing
  • Maintain a safe, organised and supportive learning environment
  • Supervise students during lessons, breaks and educational visits
  • Provide first aid and support behaviour management in line with college policies
  • Liaise effectively with SEND, pastoral and safeguarding teams

You will hold a Level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience) and GCSEs in English and Math’s (Grade C/4 or above). A willingness to undertake First Aid training is essential.
