Are you a Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Teaching Assistant passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential?
This independent specialist SEN school in Wigan are searching for dedicated, compassionate and resilient Learning Support Assistants to join their team, supporting students aged 14-18 with SEND and additional needs.
Join a highly personalised learning environment where every student's individual needs, strengths and aspirations shape their educational journey. The school supports Key Stage 4 and post-16 learners through its unique provision, combining education, wellbeing and tailored support to help students develop confidence, independence and life skills.
Working alongside experienced teaching staff, Occupational Therapists and Alternative Therapists, you'll be part of a cohesive team committed to helping every student succeed.
What you'll be doing
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual needs.
- Help students access learning, achieve their goals and overcome barriers.
- Support EHCP targets, personalised learning plans and planned interventions.
- Promote emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour and self-regulation.
- Encourage independence, resilience, communication and social development.
- Build trusting relationships and create a safe, inclusive environment.
- Support classroom activities, transitions and wider school life.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and specialist colleagues to monitor progress.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional needs.
- Holds a Level 2 qualification or has relevant equivalent experience.
- Is patient, empathetic, proactive and resilient.
- Can build positive relationships and adapt to individual needs.
- Understands safeguarding, inclusion and confidentiality.
- Has experience with EHCPs, behaviour support or de-escalation (desirable).
