Here at Merton College, we are seeking a Lecturer to teach FE vocational courses related to engineering, predominantly on vocational Level 1, 2 & 3 and T Level programmes within the school.

The Essential required area of Engineering Teaching is:

  • To teach Electrical/Electronic Engineering at L1, L2, L3 and T-Level.
  • Experience of delivering some elements of BTEC Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering
  • Have a working knowledge of CAD (Mechanical and Electronic)

T-Level Engineering

  • Have Knowledge/experience of the T-Level Units, ESP and OSP

L1 & L2 Engineering

  • Willingness to deliver units at a lower levels

A key focus of the role is to support the Head of Section in ensuring that students meet and exceed their target grades, while also providing guidance and support to members of the teaching team. You will deliver a high-quality student experience and achieve outstanding outcomes in Engineering through the development of teaching schemes, assessment schedules (including coursework and student monitoring.

We are looking for someone who is educated to degree level (or holds a higher-level academic qualification) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. You will have extensive knowledge and experience of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles, together with knowledge of engineering mathematics and CAD.

You will hold a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one) and have experience of teaching in Further Education in the UK, including delivering BTEC Level 3 Engineering (specifically Electronic units) and T Levels. You will have participated in recent, relevant CPD and have an awareness of academic quality standards. With high personal standards and expectations, you will have excellent planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills, together with strong attention to detail. You will also be able to work effectively under pressure and meet agreed deadlines.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
