New Chapter Tuition is proud to be working exclusively with a specialist vocational education provision to recruit a Vocational Instructor to join their growing team in Brighton.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in mechanics, engineering, sports coaching, youth work, cadets, vocational training or behaviour mentoring to inspire young people through practical, hands-on learning.
You'll support learners from KS3–KS5 with SEMH, ADHD, SEND, emotional and behavioural needs, and those who have experienced trauma, helping them rebuild confidence, develop practical skills and achieve positive futures.
The Role
As a Vocational Instructor, you will:

Deliver engaging vocational learning on a 1:1 basis and in small groups of up to 8 learners.

Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.

Support learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND and additional needs.

Use effective de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies.

Create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment.
-
Promote confidence, resilience and independence.
-
Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to support learner progress.
About You
This role would particularly suit candidates with experience as a:

Mechanic or Motor Vehicle Technician, or Engineer
-
Vocational Instructor
-
Sports Coach
-
Youth Worker
-
Cadet Instructor or Armed Forces Instructor
-
Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor or Teaching Assistant
You'll also have:
-
Experience working with children and young people.
-
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
-
Experience supporting learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND or challenging behaviour.

Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
-
A trauma-informed, patient and resilient approach.
-
A genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
Previous experience delivering vocational or practical learning is advantageous but not essential. If you have transferable skills, a positive attitude and a desire to inspire young people, we'd love to hear from you.
