The Role

 

Our client is seeking an experienced Carpentry & Joinery professional to join their Construction team as a Lecturer.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your industry expertise to inspire and develop future tradespeople. You will deliver high-quality teaching and assessment across a range of Carpentry & Joinery programmes, supporting learners to achieve their qualifications while promoting excellence in practical skills, safety and professional standards.

You will work closely with colleagues to develop engaging learning materials, monitor student progress and contribute to curriculum development. The role also involves supporting learner recruitment activities, employer engagement and work experience opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Deliver engaging Carpentry & Joinery lessons and practical workshops
  • Teach and assess learners across a range of programmes
  • Prepare schemes of work and learning resources
  • Monitor student attendance, progress and achievement
  • Conduct tutorials and provide constructive feedback
  • Support curriculum development and quality improvement
  • Carry out assessment and internal verification activities
  • Promote excellent Health & Safety standards
  • Build relationships with employers and support work placements
  • Participate in open days, recruitment events and parent evenings
  • Embed English, Maths and digital learning within teaching activities

 

Skills & Experience

 

  • Level 3 qualification in Carpentry & Joinery including NVQ
  • Minimum five years' industry experience
  • Teaching or training experience desirable
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
  • Assessor qualification (A1/TAQA) or willingness to achieve
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Experience delivering high-quality training or instruction
  • Confident using digital learning technologies
  • Passion for developing learners and promoting achievement
