The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading main contractor for an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee all site logistics operations on a major project at Heathrow Airport. This is a night shift position, playing a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant movement of materials, plant and waste throughout the project.
Working within the constraints of a live airport environment, you will coordinate deliveries, manage waste removal, and ensure all logistics activities are carried out in accordance with Heathrow Airport regulations, health & safety legislation and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate all site deliveries during night shifts.
Schedule and control vehicle movements to and from site.
Coordinate waste removal operations, ensuring segregation and disposal is completed in accordance with environmental regulations.
Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and site management to ensure timely deliveries.
Maintain delivery schedules and logistics records.
Ensure all logistics activities comply with Heathrow Airport security procedures and site-specific protocols.
Supervise logistics operatives, banksmen and traffic marshals where required.
Monitor storage areas to ensure materials are safely stored and readily available.
Coordinate lifting operations and plant movements with the site team where necessary.
Ensure site access routes remain clear and safe at all times.
Carry out regular inspections to maintain high housekeeping standards.
Attend site coordination meetings and provide logistics updates.
Identify and resolve logistical issues to minimise disruption to the construction programme.
Promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture across the project.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience as a Logistics Manager on major construction projects.
Experience working for a main contractor.
Knowledge of construction logistics, delivery management and waste coordination.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
Experience managing subcontractors and logistics personnel.
Competent using Microsoft Office and digital logistics management systems.
Desirable
Previous experience working on Heathrow Airport projects or within live aviation environments.
Heathrow Airport Airside Pass (current or previously held).
CSCS Card.
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
First Aid at Work.
Traffic Management or Temporary Works awareness.
Environmental or waste management experience.
