Maintenance Engineer

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Salary: £23.91 per hour (£43,421 basic salary) + 10% night shift allowance + overtime opportunities
Contract: Permanent
Shift Pattern: Customer Demand Led Rota (CDLR) - 3 x 12-hour shifts per week (1816 annualised hours)



The Opportunity

We're looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing site in Bradford.

The role involves a mix of planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work across a variety of production machinery. Around 70% of the workload is mechanically focused, making this a great opportunity for either a mechanically biased or multi-skilled engineer who enjoys fault finding and problem solving.



Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Maintain production machinery and associated equipment.
  • Work on conveyors, bearings, motors, pulleys, timing belts, sensors and pneumatic equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
  • Complete maintenance records using maintenance management systems.
  • Assist with machine installations, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise performance.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in line with company procedures.


What We're Looking For

We're open to engineers from a variety of manufacturing backgrounds.

Whilst an electrically biased engineer would be advantageous, strong mechanically biased engineers with some electrical fault-finding experience are also of interest.



Essential

  • Experience working as a Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or Electrical Maintenance Engineer.
  • Manufacturing or production maintenance experience.
  • Experience carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working on production machinery.
  • Knowledge of conveyors, bearings, motors and mechanical drive systems.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Multi-skilled maintenance background.
  • Electrical fault-finding experience.
  • Experience working with:
    • Pneumatics
    • Hydraulics
    • Sensors
    • Timing belts
    • Pulleys
    • Lathes
    • Milling machines
    • PLC fault finding
  • Experience within packaging, FMCG, food manufacturing, plastics, recycling or other manufacturing environments.


Qualifications



Essential

  • Engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Previous maintenance engineering experience.


Desirable

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
  • Multi-skilled engineering training.
  • Additional electrical qualifications.


Shift Pattern & Benefits

  • £23.91 per hour (£43,421 basic salary).
  • Additional 10% night shift allowance.
