The Company
ATA Recruitment is partnering with one of the UK’s most recognised and respected manufacturing businesses to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for their highly successful site in Kirton.
Part of a major UK group with a history dating back to the 1960s – and products with origins in the 19th century – this organisation operates 15 sites across the UK and continues to invest heavily in its people, equipment and facilities.
This particular site is one of the group’s best-performing operations, producing over 90 million units annually. Engineering excellence is at the heart of the business, with experienced leadership and a strong commitment to training and development.
The company has invested more than £130 million across its UK operations since 2023, demonstrating long-term stability and continued growth.
The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of heavy industrial manufacturing equipment, ensuring maximum plant reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Responding to breakdowns and completing reactive repairs
- Mechanical strip-downs, repairs and rebuilds
- Fault finding and root cause analysis
- Welding, fabrication and basic machining work
- Supporting continuous improvement activities
- Following safe systems of work and LOTO procedures
About You
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician or similar
- Experience working within manufacturing, industrial, heavy engineering, construction products, aggregates, steel, quarrying, FMCG or a similar environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Welding and fabrication experience (desirable)
- A recognised Level 3 engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC, HNC or HND)
- Willingness to work a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern
- A genuine passion for engineering and continuous improvement
