Are you a Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical or mechanical background and experience within FMCG or food manufacturing?

My client is looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join its established engineering team at its Blackburn manufacturing site, offering a salary of £48,000 on a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll play a key part in keeping production running efficiently, reducing downtime and driving improvements across the site.

The Role - Maintenance Engineer 

Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, you'll work as part of a small, multi-skilled engineering team responsible for the reliability and availability of production equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Responding to machinery breakdowns and completing electrical and mechanical fault finding.
• Diagnosing faults and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Carrying out PLC fault finding and supporting process control systems.
• Working on electrical control systems from switchgear through to software implementation.
• Recording maintenance activity and identifying recurring faults.
• Driving Root Cause Analysis and implementing measures to prevent repeat failures.
• Supporting the site's preventative maintenance strategy.
• Working closely with Production and Factory Management to minimise downtime.
• Liaising with engineering management to ensure appropriate spare parts are available.
• Supporting building maintenance and wider site engineering activities.
• Maintaining accurate records through the CMMS.
• Supporting and mentoring other engineers where required.
• Contributing ideas and initiatives to improve reliability, efficiency and engineering processes.
• Working to high standards of Health & Safety, quality and engineering best practice.

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally be an experienced Maintenance Engineer who can demonstrate:

• Strong electrical or mechanical engineering skills.
• Proven experience working with food processing or FMCG machinery.
• A solid background in electrical and mechanical fault finding.
• Experience with PLC fault finding and process control.
• Experience working with control panels, switchgear and associated electrical systems.
• An engineering apprenticeship with relevant qualifications such as BTEC ONC, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience using CMMS systems.
• Knowledge of HACCP, COSHH and GMP principles.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis and preventative maintenance.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and engineering best practice.

I am looking for someone who is hands-on, technically capable and solutions-focused, with the ability to work effectively alongside Production and Engineering teams.
