Maintenance Engineer in Bedford

A leading supplier of air distribution equipment in the UK is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to do preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs to ensure their main site is continually running. The Maintenance Engineer will be able to work on a range of engineering such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatics. In addition, the Maintenance Engineer will have good communication, ability to maintain records, is organised and able to ensure health and safety is adhered throughout the whole site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment optimisation
• Support production output and minimise downtime
• Diagnose and repair machine and service faults, including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documents
• Help and coordinate service engineers and site infrastructure improvements such as power supplies, airline systems to general site maintenance, and new installations and buildings.
• Ensure that the correct spares and inventory are kept and maintained as required
• Help maintain and ensure Health and Safety is adhered to throughout the whole site
• Support and suggest continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

• Have completed a minimum level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in work experience
• Experience with hydraulics
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering
• Be able to read and interpret schematics and other technical documents
• Good communication skills, ability to keep records and plan preventative works
• Need to get involved with many areas
• Good understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace

Shift: Mon-Thurs 0700-1630

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 DOE
