Maintenance Supervisor

We are recruiting an Interim Head of Maintenance to lead estate-wide engineering and maintenance services for a major higher education institution in Kent. This senior role will oversee multi-disciplinary teams, strengthen compliance and help shape maintenance standards across a substantial estate.
The role As Interim Head of Maintenance, you will:
  • Lead planned and reactive maintenance delivery across the estate.
  • Manage mechanical, electrical, building fabric and energy engineering teams.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and oversee remedial works delivered through the supply chain.
  • Maintain and develop CAFM planned preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Establish consistent maintenance processes, technical standards and engineering strategies.
  • Oversee electrical, mechanical and building-related capital and revenue works.
  • Act as the responsible person for areas including asbestos, Legionella control (L8), permits to work and safe systems of work.
  • Manage contractors, programmes and competing operational priorities.
You To succeed in this role, you will bring:
  • A degree, HNC or HND in engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Senior-level experience managing maintenance or engineering services across a complex estate.
  • Detailed knowledge of statutory health and safety, compliance and building legislation.
  • Experience developing maintenance processes, strategies and technical standards.
  • Strong knowledge of PPM and CAFM systems across multiple trade schedules.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external supply-chain partners.
  • Previous responsible-person duties covering asbestos, L8, permits to work and safe systems of work.
  • Experience within higher education, healthcare, public-sector estates or another complex environment would be advantageous.
