Primary Teaching Assistant (Makaton Experience Required)
Location: Leicester (LE4)
Salary: £95 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Part time
Start Date: 24th August

Smile Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the LE4 area of Leicester to recruit a part time, dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with Makaton experience.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with additional communication needs and make a real difference to their educational journey within a supportive school environment.

The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Support pupils with SEND.
  • Use Makaton to aid communication and engagement within the classroom.
  • Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to deliver tailored support.
  • Assist with learning activities on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Encourage pupil independence, confidence and social development.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for someone who:
  • Has previous experience working in a primary school setting with special needs.
  • Has experience using Makaton to support children with communication needs.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy and a positive attitude.
  • Is confident supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
