This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy finance team in a commercially focused role where you will have real involvement in reporting, analysis, budgeting and supporting business decision-making.The business is looking for someone who enjoys getting behind the numbers, understanding performance and working collaboratively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will take responsibility for the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, while providing meaningful financial analysis and insight to support the wider business.Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
• Providing variance analysis against budgets, forecasts and prior-year performance
• Producing clear commentary and insight around financial performance
• Managing month-end processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Preparing VAT returns
• Maintaining intercompany balances and resolving any queries or discrepancies
• Supporting the annual budgeting and forecasting process
• Working with budget holders to review performance, expenditure and future requirements
• Assisting with scenario modelling and financial planning
• Providing financial analysis to support commercial and operational decision-making
• Identifying trends, potential cost savings and opportunities to improve financial performance
• Developing and maintaining financial reports and dashboards
• Supporting year-end processes and providing information for external auditors
• Reviewing and improving financial processes, reporting and controls
• Supporting the Finance Director and Financial Controller with ad hoc projects and analysis

What you'll need to succeed

You will be an experienced and hands-on Management Accountant, with the confidence and expertise to quickly make an impact within the finance team. Whether you are qualified by experience, part-qualified or fully qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA, the client is flexible. Your practical management accounting experience, commercial understanding and ability to deliver in the role are what really matter.
You will have:

• Strong management accounting experience - producing monthly management accounts
• Good knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data analysis
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• The ability to identify trends and explain the story behind the numbers
• Confidence communicating financial information to non-finance colleagues
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines
• A proactive, organised approach with the confidence to work independently

Experience of working within a commercial or fast-paced environment would be advantageous, aAbove all, you will be commercially aware, naturally inquisitive and comfortable challenging information and asking the right questions.
