Salary: Up to £48,000 dependant on experience plus 17.5% bonus and car allowance and other Veolia benefits
Location: Hybrid with office working in Sheffield(S4 7ZJ)
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

What you'll be doing:

The Management Accountant partners with the business to produce accurate monthly management accounts for contracts within the role-holder's remit and reporting results to Business Managers, the Regional Financial Controller and the Regional Manager. Preparing forecasts/budgets in liaison with Business Managers, supporting/advising as required. Ensuring all contracts within the remit are complying with company finance procedures and policies. Safeguarding the assets of the business through reconciliation and internal processes and developing operational plans, e.g. new services, in tandem with the Business Manager and client. The role combines accounting skills with effective management and concise communication to both financial and non financial management.

  • Ensure timely and accurate production of monthly accounts to enable appropriate leadership decision making for contracts within the role-holder's remit
  • Analyse and report financial figures and operational KPIs, identifying and explaining unusual variances, reporting to demonstrate the performance of the company against forecasts, utilising a number of systems including Workday, Tranman, Infor, PowerBI, Adaptive Planning.
  • Plan annually own workload in relation to delivery of outputs accurately in conjunction with the accounting timetable including managing ad hoc requests in addition to planned workload.
  • Provide advice and guidance to local administrators on finance matters where required, auditing from time to time to ensure compliance with policies/procedures.
  • Working with Regional and Business Unit Management - provide advice and guidance on all financial matters e.g. costs, performance against budget/forecasts, invoicing, weighbridge reconciliations etc
  • Advise and influence others to ensure effective cost control, budgeting and maximising profit
  • Ensure effective auditing and control of stock
  • Ensure discrepancies in payroll is identified and the appropriate Manager is informed
  • In collaboration with the Regional Finance team provide additional information from the Region which may include responding to questions from monthly reports
  • Identify and highlight to the relevant Manager non-compliance of financial company procedures e.g. that all expenditure is recorded via the purchase order process, invoices are properly managed.
  • Ensure any new group Finance policies and procedures are adopted and complied with in their business area.

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
  • Experience working within a similar role.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills required
  • Ability to prioritise, multi-task, work independently and meet deadlines
