The Role

The role sits within the Civils & Infrastructure division. Rather than running a single scheme day-to-day, the role sits above the detail of any one project — assisting with the pricing of some of the region's larger schemes, managing the commercial reporting of other, smaller schemes across the region, and managing and mentoring a team of QS's at various levels. Typical roles and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the pricing of some of the region's larger schemes.
  • Managing the commercial reporting of other, smaller schemes across the region.
  • Managing and mentoring a team of QSs at various levels of experience.
  • Issuing and commercial management of sub-contract tender packages.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Reviewing of contract documents.
  • Managing and maintaining relationships with an established list of supply chain sub-contractors.
  • Attending internal and external commercial review meetings.
  • Aiding with submission of client valuations and management of the variation account.
  • Management of subcontract accounts from procurement to final account.
  • Preparation and assistance with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works.

About You

  • Exposure in Highways would be highly advantageous
  • Experience of, or clear readiness for, managing a team of QSs.
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on commercial delivery on major schemes with oversight of a wider team and portfolio.
  • Candidates currently operating as a Senior QS and ready to make the step up to Managing QS level are encouraged to apply.
