Position Summary

To support the development, launch, optimization, and continuous improvement of EV battery remanufacturing operations. This position will play a key role in supporting OEM battery programs involving battery disassembly, energy discharge, testing, diagnostics, remanufacturing, repair, and material recovery processes.

The Manufacturing Engineer will serve as the technical owner for assigned manufacturing processes and will be responsible for developing safe, efficient, and scalable operations that deliver exceptional quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Working closely with Operations, Quality, Program Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and OEM customer teams, this individual will drive process development, capital equipment implementation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

The successful candidate will combine strong manufacturing engineering expertise with a hands-on approach to process development, problem solving, and production support within a safety-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Development

  • Develop, implement, validate, and continuously improve manufacturing processes supporting EV battery disassembly, energy discharge, testing, diagnostics, remanufacturing, repair, and material recovery operations.
  • Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and OEM program launches from concept through full production implementation.
  • Develop and maintain process flow diagrams, PFMEA documents, control plans, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing standards.
  • Establish process controls and manufacturing methods that ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are consistently achieved.
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert for assigned manufacturing processes and operations.
  • Ensure global best practices are developed, implemented, standardized, and sustained across manufacturing operations.

EV Battery Operations & Safety

  • Support manufacturing activities involving high-voltage battery systems and associated energy storage technologies.
  • Develop and implement safe methods for battery handling, isolation, discharge, testing, transportation, remanufacturing, and material segregation.
  • Conduct process risk assessments and identify opportunities to improve operator safety, ergonomics, and process robustness.
  • Collaborate with Environmental, Health & Safety teams to ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support battery traceability, containment, quarantine, and disposition processes.

New Program Launch & Industrialisation

  • Support OEM customer program launches and manufacturing industrialization activities.
  • Develop manufacturing readiness plans and process validation activities.
  • Perform Run-at-Rate studies and capacity validation assessments.
  • Coordinate launch activities with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Conduct initial operator training and support production ramp-up activities.
  • Support APQP, PPAP, process validation, and customer approval activities where applicable.

Capital Equipment, Tooling & Automation

  • Develop CAPEX proposals and business cases for tooling, fixtures, gauges, testing equipment, material handling systems, automation, and facility improvements.
  • Develop project budgets, implementation schedules, and return-on-investment analyses.
  • Work directly with equipment suppliers and vendors to obtain quotations, evaluate technical solutions, and support sourcing decisions.
  • Assist in the design and development of tooling, fixtures, gauges, workstations, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Support purchase requisition and purchase order activities associated with approved manufacturing projects.
  • Track capital project spending and implementation progress to ensure alignment with approved budgets and project timelines.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, validation, and production handover activities.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, throughput, waste reduction, and cost improvement.
  • Lead initiatives to improve First Pass Yield (FPY), labor productivity, process capability, and operational performance.
  • Partner with Operations teams to improve labor utilization, material flow, workstation design, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Analyze manufacturing performance data and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving methodologies to eliminate waste and improve process capability.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support initiatives focused on reducing customer returns, warranty claims, and manufacturing defects.

Manufacturing Support & Collaboration

  • Provide daily technical support to production, quality, maintenance, and operational teams.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, process, equipment, and quality issues.
  • Work collaboratively with OEM customer engineering teams on manufacturing improvements and process implementation.
  • Participate in customer audits, technical reviews, process assessments, and launch activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, project updates, presentations, and capital expenditure proposals for leadership review.
  • Mentor and train operators, technicians, and other team members on manufacturing processes and best practices.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience within automotive, battery, electronics, remanufacturing, or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting new product launches, process industrialization, and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Experience developing PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
