Manufacturing Engineer in Lichfield, Staffordshire

Fortis Recruitment are working with a great engineering client in the Lichfield area to recruit a manufacturing engineer to join the team.  The role provides technical expertise, investigates manufacturing issues, supports production teams and helps ensure reliable delivery against production requirements.  The manufacturing engineer will support productivity, quality and continuous improvement of on-site manufacturing through the development, optimisation and support of manufacturing processes.

The manufacturing engineer MUST have experience with CNC tool and cutter grinding machines.  You will also need knowledge of end mills, drills and form tools.  Ideally the manufacturing engineer will have worked with Walter Tool studio and Rollomatic VG Pro as well as experience generating drawings on AutoCAD. You will be involved in pre-production activities such as programming, routing reviews, process validation and programme verification.  Part of the role will be developing robust manufacturing processes that deliver reliable machine setups and repeatable production performance.

The Role

• Develop, evaluate and optimise manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, capacity, machine utilisation and product quality
• Support Research & Development and new product introduction activities, including the manufacture and validation of test tooling
• Provide practical training to production personnel and operate CNC grinding and inspection equipment as required to support production, trials and manufacturing problemsolving
• Investigate manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective and preventative actions

The requirements

• At least 5 years’ experience setting CNC tool and cutter grinder machines
• CAD/CAM experience is essential – ideally with Walter Tool Studio or Rollomatic VG Pro
• Knowledge of end mills, drills and form tools
• Inspection experience using machines and hand tools
• AutoCAD
