The Role
You will take ownership of the Manufacturing Engineering function, providing direction to a large technical team while working closely with the wider site leadership team.

The role is particularly focused on NPI, manufacturing improvement, Lean and cost reduction, with the successful candidate expected to identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and develop the site's manufacturing capability.

You will also need to be comfortable operating close to the shop floor, using your technical manufacturing knowledge to support the team and tackle complex production challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of approximately 20, creating a strong culture of ownership, development and continuous improvement.
  • Take a leading role in new product introduction, ensuring new products can be manufactured effectively, consistently and commercially.
  • Identify and deliver cost-saving and efficiency opportunities, improving processes while maintaining the required standards of quality and performance.
  • Drive Lean and continuous improvement activity, focusing on areas such as productivity, waste reduction, process stability, OEE and manufacturing flow.
  • Provide technical leadership across manufacturing processes, with a strong understanding of machining, tooling, equipment and production methods.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Operations to resolve issues and deliver site-wide improvements.
  • Support the development of manufacturing strategies, equipment requirements and process improvements to increase future manufacturing capability.
  • Establish clear priorities for the engineering team and ensure projects and improvement activities are delivered against agreed business objectives.

What We're Looking For
  • We're looking for someone who combines strong people leadership with genuine manufacturing engineering experience.
  • A solid background in Manufacturing, Industrial or Process Engineering.
  • Strong practical knowledge of machining and precision manufacturing.
  • Experience managing and developing a sizeable engineering team.
  • A proven background in NPI / industrialisation within a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical experience implementing Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • A track record of delivering cost reduction and productivity improvements.
  • The ability to understand technical manufacturing problems and provide commercially sensible solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across engineering, operations and senior leadership.
  • Experience within aerospace or another highly regulated engineering environment would be advantageous.
