Are you looking to build a career in manufacturing and sheet metal fabrication?
Our client, a specialist and growing manufacturing business, is looking for a Junior Sheet Metal Operative to join their production team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has some basic practical or manufacturing experience and is keen to learn a skilled trade and develop their career within a specialist engineering environment.
You don't need to be an experienced sheet metal worker. We're particularly interested in people who have a good attitude, are practical and willing to learn, and have some exposure to manufacturing, engineering or workshop environments.
The Role
Working alongside experienced members of the production team, you'll be trained in the processes and skills required to manufacture and finish sheet metal components to customer specifications.
Your responsibilities will develop as your skills and experience grow, and you'll have the opportunity to learn different aspects of sheet metal production.
You'll be involved in:
- Assisting with the manufacture and preparation of sheet metal components
- Learning how to use a range of hand and workshop tools
- Supporting experienced Sheet Metal Workers with production activities
- Learning how to read and understand basic engineering drawings and work instructions
- Carrying out basic fabrication, assembly and finishing tasks
- Measuring and checking components to ensure they meet requirements
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Following all Health & Safety and quality procedures
- Supporting other areas of production when required
- Developing your skills through on-the-job training
About You
This role would suit someone who has a genuine interest in learning a skilled manufacturing trade and has some basic practical or technical experience.
You might have:
- Completed a college course in engineering, fabrication, welding, mechanics or another practical trade
- Previous experience working in a factory, warehouse, manufacturing or workshop environment
- Some experience using hand or power tools
- Basic experience working with machinery or manufacturing equipment
- An interest in engineering, fabrication or manufacturing
- The ability to follow instructions and work carefully
- Good attention to detail
- A reliable and hardworking attitude
- The willingness to learn new skills and develop within the business
