Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services, is currently recruiting for a Materials Controller. This role is essential for managing daily warehouse operations and ensuring materials availability for rail projects and fleets through efficient inventory flow, storage, and handling.
Job Purpose
The Materials Controller plans, schedules, and monitors the flow of materials through the warehouse and production cycle. This role combines hands-on warehouse operations, inventory control, and order book management for the Rail Systems service business. You will be responsible for providing material availability for projects and fleets, optimizing storage, and safely operating materials handling equipment to support Project and Fleet Managers.
Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations & Goods In/Out: Oversee day-to-day warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, and issuing materials. Safely load, unload, and move stock throughout the facility using standard warehouse machinery.

Forklift Operation: Safely operate material handling equipment (including forklifts) to transport components, optimize stores management procedures, and ensure safe systems of work within your area of responsibility.

Inventory & Stock Control: Deliver the order book and prioritization for replenishment and repairable parts to optimize inventory levels. Maintain records such as time, date, quantity, source, and destination of materials received or shipped.

Warranty & Returns Handling: Deliver the warranty returns administration process, coordinating the return of failed products from the fleets and handling product rejections directly with suppliers to minimize commercial risk.

Clerical & Systems Support: Input data into shipping, purchasing, and warehouse management systems. Coordinate paper flow, file documentation, and respond to inquiries relating to packing lists and shipping instructions.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Interface with Materials, Projects, Commercial, and Fleet Delivery Managers, as well as external suppliers like Unipart Rail, to understand daily supply priorities.

Health & Safety Compliance: Understand and implement Siemens Rail Systems HSQE policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse environment, taking personal responsibility for safety and the welfare of your colleagues.
About You

Qualifications: Valid Forklift License (e.g., Counterbalance / Reach Truck) is essential. A CIPS Professional diploma in Procurement and Supply is preferred.

Experience: Strong background in warehouse operations, stores management procedures, stock control, and inventory management.

Technical Know-How: Experienced in using IT systems, warehouse management software (WMS), and managing warranty/returns processes. Proven capability in material handling and safe loading practices.

Skills: Excellent organizational skills, manual handling competence, and strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams.
