The Company
Our client is an established engineering business specialising in material handling, mechanical engineering and structural steelwork.
They design, manufacture and install bespoke equipment including conveyors, chutes, hoppers, silos, ductwork, platforms and structural steelwork.
Due to changes within the design team, they are looking for an experienced Design Engineer / Design Draughtsperson to join the team.
The Role
A hands-on design role, with around 90% of your time focused on 3D CAD and drawing work.
You'll produce 3D models, GA drawings and detailed manufacturing drawings for bespoke material handling and steelwork projects, working closely with the Projects and Fabrication teams.
There will also be occasional UK site surveys to gather information for new and existing projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Producing 3D models, GA and manufacturing drawings.
- Designing conveyors, chutes, hoppers, silos, ductwork, platforms and steelwork.
- Developing designs into detailed fabrication drawings.
- Carrying out site surveys and working with point clouds/scanned data.
- Reviewing and implementing design changes.
- Producing sheet metal developments and DXF files.
- Working with third-party CAD models and different file formats.
- Supporting tender designs and fabrication teams.
- Mentoring apprentices when required.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years' design/draughting experience.
- Experience in material handling, heavy industry, steel fabrication or similar.
- Strong AutoCAD 2D/3D skills.
- Experience producing 3D fabrication/manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with Tekla or Advance Steel highly desirable.
- Good understanding of fabrication and practical design.
- Experience with point clouds, laser scanning or Navisworks advantageous.
- Able to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Full UK driving licence and willing to travel occasionally.
