Are you a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer ready to take the next step into a genuine leadership position?

I'm working with a specialist MEP contractor delivering high-quality commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects across London, who are looking for a Mechanical Design Lead to take ownership of mechanical design across both tenders and live projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a role where you'll have real technical influence, lead design delivery and develop a team of engineers - rather than simply being another pair of hands.

The Role

You'll lead mechanical design from tender through to completion, ensuring projects are technically sound, compliant and fully buildable.

You'll be involved in:

• Leading and coordinating mechanical design across multiple projects
• Reviewing specifications, employer requirements and design responsibilities
• Reviewing calculations, equipment selections, schematics, layouts and technical submissions
• Coordinating Design Engineers, Revit, Project Management, consultants and specialist suppliers
• Leading technical/design meetings and managing RFIs and approvals
• Supporting procurement, installation, testing and commissioning
• Resolving complex technical and design issues
• Overseeing as-builts, O&M information and project close-out
• Mentoring and developing Design Engineers

What We're Looking For

• Strong background in mechanical building services design
• Previous Senior / Lead Mechanical Design experience
• Commercial fit-out or refurbishment experience
• Strong HVAC and building services knowledge
• Experience taking projects through the full design lifecycle
• Confident reviewing calculations and technical designs
• Experience leading/coordinating design teams
• HNC/HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or equivalent
• Experience with IES/Hevacomp
• Ability to review Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks
• Strong technical judgement and communication skills
