We're looking for talented Mechanical Designers with strong SOLIDWORKS or Autodesk Inventor experience to join a growing nuclear engineering team based in Winchester. This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within the UK nuclear sector while benefiting from a flexible hybrid working arrangement.

The Role

As a Mechanical Designer, you'll play a key role in delivering mechanical design solutions for nuclear and highly regulated engineering projects. You'll be responsible for producing high-quality 3D models and manufacturing drawings, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed 3D CAD models using SOLIDWORKS or Autodesk Inventor
  • Create accurate manufacturing drawings in accordance with BS 8888
  • Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to engineering drawings
  • Develop designs from concept through to manufacture for nuclear engineering applications
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams
  • Support design reviews and implement engineering changes where required
  • Ensure designs comply with quality, safety and regulatory requirements within a highly regulated environment
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of projects across the UK nuclear industry

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer
  • Strong proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and/or Autodesk Inventor
  • Excellent knowledge of BS 8888
  • Experience applying GD&T to engineering drawings
  • Ability to produce high-quality manufacturing documentation
  • Experience working within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry is highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and team-working abilities

Desirable Experience

  • Nuclear, defence, aerospace or other highly regulated industries
  • Bespoke machinery or specialist equipment design
  • Sheet metal, fabricated assemblies or machined components
  • Design for Manufacture (DFM)
  • Product development and engineering change management
