My valued client is seeking a Mechanical Fitter for Surface works at their prestigious project in North Yorkshire.
The duties and responsibilities of a Surface Fitter will include but not be limited to:
Co-operate with all other work stream and operational team members to co-ordinate work efforts and ensure activities are sequenced correctly
Repair any failed mechanical equipment for which you are competent to work on under breakdown conditions back to a safe working condition
Systematically inspect and test all mechanical equipment to ensure it is maintained in safe working order.
Provide written reports, each shift, to line management detailing all work carried out with test results and follow up recommendations, recording any tests, inspections and defects
Ensure compliance with codes and rules, company instructions, RAMS and working instructions with regards to health and safety
To work to manufacturer’s recommendations on all mechanical equipment and systems
Carry out examinations under the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) Scheme for the mine to ensure compliance with legislation
The Ideal Candidate:
Either time served apprenticeship in Mechanical Maintenance / Engineering or a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in the same.
Experience of working on Mechanical Systems in a mining, tunneling or heavy industry environment.
Stage 1 & 2 plus accumulator training
Mechanical Joint Integrity training MJ 10/18/19
Significant experience in a fitter’s role in an operational environment.
Experience in installation, commissioning, operation testing and maintenance of mechanical equipment (hydraulic, systems, pneumatic systems, conveying and transport systems, hoses, valves and electrically powered machines etc).
Relevant hazardous area experience is desirable.
Experience operating high pressure systems and associated infrastructure and control systems is desirable.
Have undergone a recognised mechanical training scheme, preferably an approved apprenticeship.
Evidence of continuing competence development as a fitter.
Evidence of Safe Isolation of mechanical systems within the scope of your appointment and any applied restriction.
You will have a broad understanding of PUWER 1998, LOLER 1998 and you will know how this legislation should be applied to mechanical systems within the context of the project.
You will have a broad understanding of the 2014 Mining Regulations and how they impact your role
You will have undertaken training to establish knowledge of basic mechanical principles.
Effective communication skills are essential
The ability to follow instructions and comply with policies and procedures is essential.
Role is on a 9 on 6 off basis and includes days, afters and nights rotations. More information will be discussed.
Role is offered on a permanent basis with competitive salary, company bonus scheme, pension, 4 x death in service benefite and Bupa cover (after 3 months).
