Location: Manchester
Base Pay: circa £18ph–£19ph / £35,000–£36,000 per annum
Overtime: Regular overtime available at 1.5x, offering strong additional earning potential
Permanent Position
Multiple positions available due to continued growth
Working Hours:
Monday–Thursday: 7:30am–4:00pm
Friday: 7:30am–1:00pm
Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembly Engineer or Machine Builder with a background in building industrial machinery or equipment?
We are recruiting on behalf of an established engineering business in Manchester that is continuing to grow following a strong order book and increasing project workload.
They are looking to recruit multiple Mechanical Fitters / Mechanical Assembly Engineers to join their experienced workshop-based engineering team.
This is a hands-on mechanical fitting and machine-building position, working within a modern engineering workshop alongside a team of highly skilled and long-serving Mechanical Fitters.
The Role
Working from engineering drawings, you will be responsible for the mechanical fitting, assembly and build of machinery and equipment.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Mechanical fitting and assembly of machinery and equipment
- Precision fitting of mechanical components and parts.
- Building mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies from engineering drawings
- Bench fitting and general mechanical assembly work
- Using a range of hand and power tools
- Reading and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings
- Working closely with other Mechanical Fitters and engineering departments throughout the build process
- Following established health and safety procedures within the workshop
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with:
- Strong mechanical fitting, assembly or machine-building experience
- Previous experience working within a machinery, capital equipment or equipment-building environment
- Good bench fitting skills
- The ability to confidently read and work from engineering drawings
- Experience using hand and power tools
- A practical, hands-on approach to mechanical engineering
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
Fabrication and welding experience would be beneficial but is not essential. Training can be provided for someone interested in developing these skills.
