Rate: £45.00 per hour

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector / Coordinator to support the delivery of a major engineering project in Aldermaston. This role is responsible for providing independent quality assurance and inspection of mechanical installation activities, ensuring all work is completed safely, compliantly, and in accordance with approved specifications, drawings, and industry standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased professional with a strong background in construction, installation, inspection, and quality assurance within highly regulated or industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Quality Assurance

  • Monitor and inspect mechanical installation works across the project.
  • Conduct inspections of:
    • HVAC systems
    • Piping and pipework installations
    • Pumps, valves, and associated mechanical equipment
    • Pressure systems and containment installations
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with:
    • Contract specifications
    • Approved engineering drawings
    • Industry standards (BS, ISO, ASME, etc.)
    • Client quality requirements and procedures
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and quality assessments.
  • Identify non-conformances and quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed out.
  • Verify workmanship standards and installation quality throughout project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Support project teams in achieving compliance with quality, safety, and engineering requirements.
Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience in a Mechanical Inspection, Mechanical Coordination, Quality Assurance, or Mechanical Engineering Construction role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical installation techniques, including:
    • Pipework systems
    • Welding activities
    • Structural steel interfaces
    • Mechanical equipment installation
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
 

Desirable

  • HNC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Relevant inspection qualifications such as Clerk of Works Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience working within highly regulated sectors such as Nuclear, Defence, Energy, Petrochemical, or Industrial Construction environments.
