My client is one of the UK's leading manufacturers. Operating from its modern manufacturing facility, they continue to invest in its people, processes, and equipment to maintain its reputation for quality and innovation.

Due to continued growth, I am looking to recruit a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team.

The Role - Mechanical Maintenance Engineer 

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving production machinery across the site. Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for ensuring plant reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a days-based role offering excellent work-life balance and the opportunity to work on a variety of manufacturing and automated equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing and production equipment
  • Respond to mechanical breakdowns and diagnose faults efficiently
  • Maintain and repair conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, rollers, pumps, and motors
  • Work on pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Conduct machinery inspections and condition monitoring activities
  • Support machine installations, modifications, and improvement projects
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure maintenance records and documentation are completed accurately
  • Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment availability and performance
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping

What We're Looking For

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, production, woodworking, furniture, FMCG, packaging, or industrial environments
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
  • Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Proactive and hands-on approach to maintenance
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous
