Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in Macclesfield, Cheshire

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join an established and growing engineering/manufacturing business.

This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer with a strong mechanical maintenance background and good electrical/technical knowledge. You will be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding and repairing a wide range of production machinery and equipment, helping to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.

• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on production machinery.

• Carrying out electrical fault-finding and basic electrical repairs.

• Working with motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings and mechanical systems.

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.

• Using electrical and mechanical testing equipment.

• Identifying potential equipment failures and taking preventative action.

• Supporting installation, modification and commissioning of machinery.

• Working closely with production teams to minimise machinery downtime.

• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting faults and repairs.

• Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures.

• Supporting continuous improvement and reliability projects.

An engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent would be advantageous.

Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition or relevant electrical maintenance experience would also be beneficial.
