This workshop-based position offers full training, making it ideal for someone with a hands-on mechanical background who is looking to develop specialist skills in the build, calibration, testing and overhaul of bespoke mechanical equipment used in industrial machinery.

Mechanical Technician - The Role:

  • Build and assemble mechanical units and sub-assemblies
  • Set up mechanical kit on specialist test equipment and carry out calibration
  • Perform functional testing, performance checks and quality inspections
  • Strip down, inspect and overhaul returned units
  • Clean, measure and assess components for wear, tolerances and reuse
  • Follow detailed engineering drawings, work instructions and procedures
  • Produce accurate build reports, test records and service documentation
  • Support senior technicians with complex builds, fault investigations and overhaul work
  • Maintain a safe, organised and high-quality workshop environment

Mechanical Technician - The Person:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a background in Automotive, Plant, Marine, Industrial or similar environments
  • Hands-on experience using mechanical tools and working with assemblies or precision components
  • Good problem-solving skills and an interest in developing diagnostic abilities
  • Ability to learn technical procedures and follow structured work instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small technical team

Desirable:

  • Mechanical maintenance, Automotive repair or Plant/Industrial equipment experience
  • Understanding of mechanical tolerances or precision measurement
  • Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or relevant vocational training
