An exciting opportunity is available for a Trainee Medical Field Service Engineer to join a specialist healthcare engineering team, supporting customers across London.

This is a field service opportunity with full product and technical training provided. We're open to candidates at different stages of their technical career - from a school or college leaver at entry-level, through to an experienced electro-mechanical field service engineer looking to move into medical devices.

The role:

You'll be field based and spend your days visiting hospitals and healthcare sites across Central and Greater London, supporting a range of medical and electromechanical equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Installing, servicing and maintaining medical and electromechanical equipment
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and routine safety and performance checks
• Supporting electrical, mechanical and electromechanical fault-finding
• Completing straightforward repairs and component replacements following training
• Assisting experienced engineers with installations and more complex technical work
• Ensuring equipment is safe, operational and ready for clinical use
• Building professional relationships with customers and clinical teams
• Completing accurate service reports and digital records
• Managing tools, spare parts and test equipment
• Escalating more complex or unfamiliar faults appropriately

The equipment you'll support initially includes garment management systems, operating and procedure tables, X-ray chairs and other low-risk medical equipment. As your skills and experience develop, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your technical knowledge across the wider product portfolio.

You'll regularly work within hospital environments, including areas around operating theatres, so you'll need to be comfortable working in a clinical setting and remain calm and professional when equipment issues arise.

Hours:

• Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
• Typically 8:30am-5:30pm

Location & travel:

The role will predominantly involve travel to hospitals in Central and Greater London, with some travel nationally when required.

What we're looking for:

We're interested in candidates with a practical technical background, whether you've gained your experience through education, an apprenticeship, employment or an existing field service engineering role.

This could suit:

• A school/college leaver with level 2 qualifications (GCSE's) and hands-on experience
• An apprentice or junior engineer looking to take the next step
• A technician with experience in electrical, mechanical or electromechanical equipment
• An experienced field service engineer looking to move into the medical device sector

You'll ideally have:

• Some hands-on experience with electrical, mechanical or electromechanical equipment
• A practical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving
• Good customer-facing and communication skills
• The ability to think on your feet and work calmly under pressure
• Flexibility to travel as required
• A willingness to learn and develop your technical skills
• A Level 2 technical qualification, GCSE equivalent or relevant practical experience
• A full UK driving licence
• Indefinite right to work in the UK - sponsorship is not available

Previous experience in medical devices, field service, maintenance, electromechanical equipment, or similar environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.
