The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced MEP Lead to take full accountability for the safe, commercially successful, and timely delivery of key projects-from initial tender handover right through to final client sign-off.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the complete project lifecycle, leading a dedicated team that includes Assistant Project Managers, Site Managers, sub-contractors, and the broader supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead overall project delivery to ensure all milestones are met safely and efficiently.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, construction quality, and site productivity.
Chair essential progress meetings with clients, consultants, and sub-contractors.
Oversee commissioning activities, ensuring all testing, verification, and practical completions run smoothly.
2. Pre-Construction & Design Management
Lead estimating handover meetings and gain a thorough understanding of project scopes, specifications, Employers' Requirements (ERs), and commercial allowances.
Manage the RFI process and design clarifications, ensuring deliverables align with the programme.
Coordinate technical submittals and drive the client approval process.
3. Commercial & Procurement Strategy
Develop procurement schedules and lead the acquisition of sub-contractor packages and major plant/equipment.
Partner with the Quantity Surveyor on valuations, cost reporting, forecasting, and commercial risk management.
Identify, justify, and submit variations to the client while protecting project margins.
4. Relationship & Team Management
Mentor and guide site management teams and support staff.
Foster strong supply chain relationships and actively manage sub-contractor performance.
Assist with business development opportunities, tender support, and ongoing client engagement.
What You'll Need (Requirements)
Experience: Proven track record delivering complex construction or engineering projects as a lead.
Qualifications:
Relevant Electrical qualifications (Mechanical knowledge is highly desirable).
NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management (or equivalent).
Valid SMSTS and CSCS Managers Card.
Skills: Strong commercial acumen, exceptional leadership abilities, and top-tier client-facing communication skills.
