Intermediate MEP Quantity Surveyor

London | £50,000 - £70,000 + Package

We are currently working with an established MEP contractor who are seeking an ambitious Intermediate MEP Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who has developed a solid foundation within the mechanical and electrical sector and is now looking to broaden their commercial experience, take on greater responsibility and progress towards a Senior QS position.

The Position

Working as part of an experienced commercial team, you will be involved in the financial and contractual management of MEP projects from procurement through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing project costs, budgets and financial reporting
• Procurement and management of subcontract packages
• Reviewing and negotiating subcontractor quotations
• Preparing and assessing valuations
• Managing variations and changes to scope
• Monitoring project expenditure and forecasting
• Managing subcontractor accounts and payments
• Assisting with the preparation and agreement of final accounts
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
• Supporting monthly commercial reporting
• Attending client, subcontractor and internal commercial meetings

The successful candidate will have previous experience within an M&E, MEP or specialist building-services contractor and a good understanding of the commercial aspects of mechanical and electrical projects.

We are particularly interested in individuals who demonstrate:

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the MEP sector
• Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services
• Understanding of procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts
• Strong commercial awareness
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills
• Good communication and negotiation abilities
• A proactive and professional approach
• Ambition to progress within the commercial function

A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction or a related discipline would be advantageous.
