Mixed Veterinarian
Vet Finders
Mixed Veterinarian. Real Variety, Real Support, Real Country Lifestyle. Australia. $80k - $140k DOE
Imagine starting your day with pregnancy testing cattle, performing a dog caesarean after lunch, and spending your weekend exploring the Southern Highlands, the South Coast, or one of Australia's most beautiful rural regions.
Welcome to Cooinda Vet Hospital.
They’re a friendly, independent mixed practice in Marulan, NSW, looking for a veterinarian who enjoys variety, values teamwork, and likes the idea of knowing their clients by name.
This is the kind of role many vets say they're looking for but rarely find. Genuine mixed practice, plenty of clinical freedom, excellent support, and a team that enjoys coming to work.
Whether you're an experienced mixed practitioner or looking to build your confidence with strong mentoring, they would love to hear from you.
The Role
You'll see a bit of everything here. Companion animals, cattle, sheep, goats, alpacas, horses, and, every now and then, even a camel.
Their small animal caseload includes medicine, emergencies, reproduction, soft tissue surgery, and basic orthopaedics. On the large animal side, you'll be involved with herd health, pregnancy testing, calvings, lambings, emergencies, and production animal work.
No two days are the same, and that's exactly how they like it.
Newer graduates receive plenty of support and guidance, while experienced vets are trusted to work independently and help develop younger colleagues.
What’s in it for you?
Salary ranges from $80,000 to $140,000 plus super, depending on experience.
Alongside that, you'll receive four weeks' annual leave, one week of conference leave, up to $2,000 CPD allowance, accommodation support when you arrive, and mileage reimbursement for farm visits.
There is a shared on-call rota of no more than 1 in 3, with additional on-call allowances and after-hours fees paid.
The Practice
A three-vet practice supported by experienced nurses and reception staff who genuinely care about both the animals and each other.
The clinic is well-equipped with digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, in-house laboratory facilities, endoscopy, progesterone testing, electrosurgery, and modern surgical equipment.
But equipment isn't what makes people stay.
What makes Cooinda special is the atmosphere. They laugh a lot, support each other when things get busy, and have built the kind of client relationships that result in Christmas cards, homemade treats, and farmers insisting you stay for a coffee after pregnancy testing.
Location Perks
Marulan offers the best of both worlds. You can enjoy a genuine country lifestyle while remaining within easy reach of Sydney, Canberra, the Southern Highlands and the South Coast beaches.
The region is known for its rolling countryside, excellent schools, horse sports, walking trails, state forests, vibrant local communities, and relaxed pace of life. It's the sort of place where people still stop to say hello in the street.
