Veterinarian
Vet Finders
Mixed or Small Animal Vet. Great Team, Balance & Real Variety. Alberta, Canada. $115-$130k.
What if your next move came with more support, less stress, and the kind of lifestyle people actually move to Canada for?
Welcome to Iron Creek Veterinary Hospital, a genuinely friendly mixed practice in rural Alberta where the team works hard, helps each other out, and still has time to enjoy life outside of work. Think proper mixed animal variety, good equipment, great people, and a clinic culture that feels supportive rather than corporate.
Based in the friendly rural community of Sedgewick, Alberta, Iron Creek is the kind of mixed practice that reminds people why they became vets in the first place. Warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth, the place has a real ‘family feel’ about it, where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time. Decisions can be made quickly, and ideas are encouraged.
They’re looking for a part-time or full-time veterinarian to join their experienced and supportive team of DVMs, RVTs and fantastic support staff. Whether you’re a confident mixed vet, prefer small animal only, or you’re looking to continue developing your skills with mentorship and encouragement, they would love to hear from you.
What the role looks like:
• Mixed animal or small animal, you choose.
• Proper variety — consults, surgery, cattle work, diagnostics and more.
• Longer appointment times and flexible scheduling.
• Advanced in-house lab, ultrasound and x-ray equipment.
• Mentorship and support for vets wanting to grow their skills.
• Modern, fully equipped facility with a genuinely welcoming atmosphere.
The practical bits:
• Salary from $110K–$130K depending on experience.
• Signing on bonuses available.
• Health & dental plan included.
• ABVMA & CVMA fees paid.
• VIN membership, CE allowance & staff discounts
• Short-term accommodation available onsite.
• 4 weeks paid vacation plus personal/sick days.
They run their own after-hours service for clients, shared with a neighbouring clinic part of the year. The rota is supportive and fairly shared, with standby payments and call-out fees paid directly to you. Plus, if you work a weekend on-call, the following Friday is booked off for a long weekend.
Outside of work, Alberta delivers.
Life in Flagstaff County offers something that’s becoming harder to find: genuine community, open space, and a pace of life where people still know their neighbours. The welcoming rural towns here create a strong sense of connection and community spirit, blending modern veterinary medicine with a real James Herriot feel.
You’ll be surrounded by lakes, golf courses, fishing spots, cafés, local shops and friendly communities where there’s always something happening. Summers bring camping and hiking, while winter transforms the area into a playground for skiing, hockey, curling and snow adventures. There’s even a local ski hill nearby, with the Rocky Mountains close enough for unforgettable weekend escapes.
So, what’s next?
If you’re looking for a role where your voice matters, your growth is encouraged, and your life outside work is just as important as the care you provide inside the clinic, this could be the move that changes everything.
Forget the polished application; just reach out with whatever version of your CV you have on hand. We want to know the person, not just the paperwork.
