Mobile Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a Mobile Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Birmingham. This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.
Working Hours:
- Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm
- Week 2: Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 6:00pm
There is also an on-call rota.
Salary: £38,000+ per annum, plus a company vehicle and excellent benefits package.
The Role
This role covers multiple school sites across Birmingham, along with a range of community properties providing healthcare services. You will be responsible for ensuring all sites remain safe, compliant, and fully operational by delivering both planned and reactive mechanical maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, fault-find and repair mechanical systems, plant and equipment in accordance with current legislation, standards and procedures.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across mechanical building services, including HVAC, boilers, pumps, heating, ventilation and water systems.
- Undertake minor mechanical installations, upgrades and adaptation works.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests to minimise disruption and ensure service delivery.
- Resolve mechanical faults and plant defects efficiently, maintaining safe and reliable operation.
- Identify and specify required spare parts, providing accurate parts lists and estimated repair times.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, including real-time updates on CAFM systems and detailed job reports.
- Complete all documentation and reporting to the required standards.
- Participate in the on-call rota.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Plumbing or a related mechanical discipline.
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship.
- Previous experience within a building maintenance or facilities maintenance environment.
- Strong fault-finding and mechanical maintenance skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience working within education, healthcare or large estate environments.
- Previous Competent Person or Authorised Person experience, including ventilation and/or pressure systems.
