Mobile Service Engineer – M4 Region
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Mobile Service Engineer to join a growing team, working on the servicing, maintenance and repair of Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCVs).
This is a hands-on mobile role, visiting customer sites and third-party premises to keep vehicles operating safely and efficiently. The role covers the M4 region and surrounding areas, including Surrey, Sussex, Reading, East Anglia and Brighton.
The position is primarily field-based, although occasional visits to the head office site in Kidderminster will be required for meetings, training, support or other business needs.
We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and takes pride in doing a good job. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently, dealing directly with customers and solving problems as they arise.
What You'll Be Doing
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of Refuse Collection Vehicles.
- Carrying out repairs to a high standard and ensuring vehicles are safe and fit for use.
- Working in line with Department for Transport requirements and relevant vehicle standards where required.
- Diagnosing faults and finding practical solutions to get vehicles back on the road.
- Completing work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Travelling to customer and third-party sites across the region.
- Providing friendly and professional customer service and keeping customers informed about work being carried out.
- Completing job sheets, paperwork and other relevant documentation accurately.
- Identifying additional or chargeable work and ensuring the customer has authorised this before proceeding.
- Managing your own workload, planning your time effectively and arriving at agreed appointments on time.
- Attending the Kidderminster head office occasionally for meetings, training, technical support and other business requirements.
- Carrying out your own risk assessments and making sure all work is completed safely.
- Taking responsibility for your own health and safety, as well as being mindful of colleagues, customers and members of the public.
- Being flexible with working hours, overtime and travel where required.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be a professional, self-motivated and practical engineer who enjoys working with vehicles and solving problems.
You'll need to be comfortable working on your own when required, while also being able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
We're particularly interested in people who have:
- Experience in vehicle maintenance, mechanical engineering or a similar field.
- Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- A strong eye for detail and pride in the quality of their work.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to complete paperwork and job documentation accurately.
- A flexible approach to working hours, overtime and travel.
- A willingness to learn, develop and take on new challenges.
- A strong understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
- A full UK driving licence.
