Salary: £40,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Shift Start Times: Variable early and day shifts, starting from approximately 05:30 or between 07:00–08:00

CDS Labour are recruiting an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer for a well-established seafood processing and manufacturing business based near Roche, Cornwall.

This is a hands-on engineering role supporting a busy FMCG production operation. You will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance to keep the site running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Completing planned preventative maintenance on production machinery
  • Responding quickly to mechanical and electrical breakdowns
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs
  • Maintaining Multivac packaging equipment and other food-processing machinery
  • Minimising production downtime and improving equipment reliability
  • Completing routine inspections, servicing and safety checks
  • Supporting machinery installations, upgrades and commissioning
  • Identifying recurring faults and recommending long-term solutions
  • Working closely with production teams to resolve engineering issues
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting completed work
  • Managing spare parts and reporting replacement requirements
  • Following food hygiene, health and safety and site procedures
  • Providing occasional weekend support when required, with time off in lieu

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a multi-skilled maintenance or engineering role
  • Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills
  • Some electrical maintenance and diagnostic experience
  • FMCG, food manufacturing or fast-paced production experience is preferred
  • Experience maintaining or repairing Multivac machinery would be highly advantageous
  • Relevant mechanical or electrical engineering qualification is desirable
  • Understanding of planned preventative maintenance systems
  • Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals
  • Good problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities
  • Reliable, safety-conscious and able to communicate effectively
