Location: Northampton
Salary: £40,000–£42,500 per annum
Shift: Monday to Friday, Days (07:30–17:30)

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with proven experience in a manufacturing environment. This role is primarily focused on reactive mechanical maintenance, with an element of planned preventative electrical maintenance (PPM). 50/50 .

You will support approximately 30 production machines, including extruders, printers, and converters, ensuring maximum uptime and production efficiency. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and will become an integral part of the maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out reactive mechanical and electrical maintenance on production equipment.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Provide technical support for machinery breakdowns, installations, and improvement projects.
  • Assist with general building services maintenance, including:
    • Emergency lighting testing
    • Fire alarm testing
    • Air Handling Unit (AHU) PPMs
    • Lamp replacements
    • Basic plumbing tasks
  • Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to ensure the plant operates safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance experience with electrical knowledge.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications or certification are desirable.
  • Ability to fault-find on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
